Guru Meher Kaur Khalsa, Sr. (Mataji)

Guru Meher Kaur Sr., the Divine Mataji, left her earthly body on July 11th, at 2:22 am in Rajpura, India. She passed peacefully in her sleep at the family home in India surrounded by loving family and caretakers. She was 95 yrs. old and enjoyed a long and happy life. Her memory will be in all our hearts always. A 17 day Sahej Paath was started for her at her home in India.

Dear Piari Sat Sangat Ji,

With all love and prayers, we send our deepest condolences on the passing of our dear Gurumeher Kaur, whom we all lovingly knew as Mataji. We wish her beautiful daughters all comfort and strength at this time—Gurujohn Kaur, Nirbhe Kaur, Siri Gurudev Kaur and Rama Kaur.

Mataji is now with her beloved Guru Ram Das in the lap of his protection. Her life was a testament to the grace of woman—a life filled with unwavering devotion, radiant kindness, and boundless seva.

Mataji’s presence in our Sangat was a divine blessing. As ashram secretary, she served with unmatched commitment, always ready with a compassionate heart, a listening ear, and wise counsel. She was the one our Sangat turned to—for comfort, for clarity, and for strength.

But it was her love for the children that touched so many. Whether gently guiding them through children’s Gurdwara services, or filling their hearts with joy through stories and songs of the Guru’s path, Mataji instilled in each child a sense of wonder, belonging, and love for Sikhi that will ripple through generations.

Her legacy is profound—she was a living example of humility, grace, and divine feminine strength. We bow in gratitude for the light she shared with us all.

May Guru Ram Das bless you and your families with strength, peace, and the comfort of cherished memories. Mataji’s spirit will forever live in our hearts, in the sacred spaces she nurtured, and in the lives she so gently touched.

With all love in divine,
Bibiji
